HIKING

Cerkno and its surroundings belong to the Cerkljansko hribovje (The Cerkno Hills) which is classified as prealpine hill. It is quite steep and reaches the average altitude of 1000 metres. There you can find hills, ridges, plateau, narrow gorges, valleys, crystal clear water, magnificent views, intact nature… You will not be disappointed.

Mountain hiking trails, long-distance trails and a lot of maintained and marked trails are intertwined.

Porezen (1630m)

Porezen is the highest summit of Cerkljansko hribovje (The Cerkno Hills) which affords a view to the Bohinj mountains, Julian Alps, Karavanke, Kamniško Savinjske Alpe (Kamnik-Savinja Alps), Cerkljansko and Škofjeloško hribovje (The Cerkno and Škofja Loka Hills), in the south you can see all the way down to the sea. Only a few metres under the top of Cerkno’s mighty peak you can also find a mountain hut. There is a stamp and a register book at the summit.

At the summit there are a large National Liberation Struggle memorial and some other relics from the time of wars.

There are many marked paths leading to Porezen from the direction of Cerkno and Baška Grapa valley.

Blegoš (1564m)

Blegoš is the highest summit of Škofjeloško hribovje (Škofja Loka Hills) and besides Porezen and Ratitovec one of the “big three” prealpine summits with a magnificent view as to Julijske Alpe as to the surrounding hills. There are many marked paths leading to it. At the summit you can find a stamp and a register book. A couple of hundred metres under the top, you can find a mountain hut.

Kopa (1360m)

The locals named this high rock “Kapa” or Kopa due to its similarity to charcoal-heaps. Kopa spreads out above the village of Novaki, on the slope of Cimprovka which offers a view to Cerkno and surrounding hills, Trnovski gozd (Trnovo Forest Plateau), in fine weather also all the way to Kamniško-Savinjske Alpe (Kamnik-Savinja Alps). The starting point is at Razpet which is on the border between the villages of Novaki and Davča (a border between the Primorska and Gorenjska Regions).

At the starting point there is an informational signpost from which leads a marked trail to the top of the summit.

Kojca (1303)

Kojca, a mother of Cerkljansko hribovje (The Cerkno Hills), lies south of the Porezen summit. There are many marked trails leading to Kojca: from the villages of Zakojca, Orehek and Jesenica. You can enjoy the view of Cerkljansko hribovje (The Cerkno Hills), Porezen, Bohinj mountains, Baška Grapa valley, Črna Prst and all the way to Krn.

On the grassy top there is also a wooden bivouac.

Črni vrh (1291m)

Črni Vrh is the highest point of the Ski resort Cerkno. At the summit there is a nice view of the Julian Alps, Cerkljansko hribovje (The Cerkno hills), in nice weather also all the way to Kamniško-Savinjske Alpe (Kamnik-Savinja Alps).

Marked trails lead from Gorenji Novaki, Leskovica…

Ermanovec (1026m)

From Ermanovec there is a magnificent viewpoint which opens up with the entire Škofjeloško hribovje (Škofja Loka hills), parts of Cerkljansko hribovje (The Cerkno Hills) and other summits in the area. Many marked hiking trails lead to Ermanovec: from the village of Trebija, Hotavlje and Kladje pass. There is a stamp and a register book at the summit.

Under Ermanovec, at the altitude of 968 metres, there is also a mountain hut.
